This post is based on conversation I had with PayPal reps in Israel and the United States. As such, my information might be slightly out of date.

Essentially, Paypal just wants to see that a charity is registered as such. They weren’t that sophisticated to understand Nihul Takin or Se’if 46. Of course, this was a while ago and things might have changed. My recommendation is to call them up. PayPal also hired a new nonprofit rep about a half a year ago. Traction is proof that your product has value. It is what entices investors (a.k.a. donors) that they should (continue to) give you money.

For for-profit enterprises, this generally means sales, though other things might be just as convincing.

For charities, the notion of sales isn’t necessarily relevant. Rather I would use other types of benchmarks like impact.

This is a very, very concise definition of traction, but I hope it shows how the two different types of ventures might measure success.

What do you mean by this:
